The size is perfect for a child but I actually got this for me because of the size. I have several other full size basses but wanted this just to have fun with. Update December 2023: I really do like this bass. I thought I'd make some upgrades to make it better. Tried changing the pickups but these are slightly smaller than standard Jazz Bass pickups and since I don't want route the body I stuck with the stock pickups but changed the wiring and pots. These stock pickups are actually heftier and better built that the replacements I bought. I changed the tuners with a set that would allow me to use better strings. The strings that came with it were not that good but were tapered properly to his scale. On any other string set the E string is to fat to fit the stock tuner. I found a set that let me install a set of LaBella low tension flats. Even the strings were short scale, the fat part of the string still had to go into the tuners. Worked okay on the low E but surprisingly the A string snapped. Got lucky and had enough to try again. So now I've got this Baby Bass with flat wounds on it and I love it! Update August 2024 - FYI Gold Tone Micro Bass strings are the perfect size for this bass. String wrap at the end is the perfect length. I put on a set of their flatwound strings and they are awesome. The Baby Bass sounds even better now.

I will start this review by saying I am not a bass player. I am a guitarist of 33 years, and a drummer for even longer. I have a small studio and have owned several bass guitars through the years. I play good enough to confidently play my own bass tracks in the studio. With that said, I am in the process of recovering an album and needed some bass. I had chosen a nice 5 string that was significantly more expensive than this one. However, I ran across this guy about a year agoI play Fender strat style guitars so the 25.5 inch scale length sounded great to me, but when I opened the box there were no words! It is so small! Upon initial inspection, it looks good. There are no sharp frets. The back of the neck is kinda rough, but a lite sanding took care of that. The jack plate doesn't quite fit the curve of the body. I removed it and bent slightly to fit the body better. The red finish is flawless. It is a matte finish with no pore fill so you can feel the grain. It was not in tune so I tuned it up. The tuners feel a little loose. I may replace them. The action is somewhat high. The intonation isn't even close, and the neck has a little too much relief. I then let it acclimate overnight. The neck straightened out close to perfect. A little tweak on the truss rod and it is good. I adjusted the saddles and set the intonation. All of this took roughly 15 minutes. I have to say, it is one of the best playing bass guitars I've had the pleasure of playing. The strings are super heavy so the bass tunes to standard tuning. No string flop whatsoever! The pickups sound like bass single coils. 2 volume and 1 tone. It has a lot of versatility. I threw a strap on it and it is perfectly balanced. No neck dive. I don't own a bass amp. I record direct with amp simulators. I plugged it into my guitar amp just for the fun of it. A Vox AC20 clone. Kicked the fuzz and the phaser pedals on and just cracked up laughing at how awesome this little bass is!

Plays fine out of the box and tuned up. For $100 great for a beginner, little kid or person with smaller hands or stature. For an experienced player like me, it's an $100 body and neck at 25.5" scale with a good balance point for the strap. It uses some standard parts, which means it can take some standard replacements. I did have to get a bridge replacement that had adjustable string space, humcancelling blade style pickups, better strap buttons, the tuners are fine, and a new wiring harness with better components. And string with a set of Ibanez Mikro 5 strings with the highest string left off to make up for the lower tension. None of this is necessary, but I want to, so I am.

It's great for the price. However, keep in mind that it comes unadjusted, so it's hard to tune at first. I had to spend some minutes trying to get it done.

First off, it is really small, about electric guitar size. It is exactly what I needed. I have a hand condition that limits my mobility & couldn't manage a full size bass. The bass is really nice looking and comfortable to play. I had to do a complete setup on it (truss rod adjustment, string height, intonation) and fix a non working tone pot (a wayward piece of solder shorting between two terminals on the pot) but after getting it set up this little bass kicks ass. This bass is not just for kids. If you like short scale basses and/or want a nice travel instrument this is for you. It's also really nice for recording and practicing in front of the computer. My bass had a minor problem and Glarry customer service took care of it right away. They have great communication and really do what it takes to satisfy the customer.

Writing this on Christmas day and it was a hit. I have played bass for decades and made one. I've read about hums, but I did not notice any difference from any other Jazz bass. As such, there is a little hum when one is not playing. Electronics are nice. Bridge is nice but not adjusted at all. I will use a screw driver and YouTube later. Frets are nice. Real truss rod. Because this is such a real instrument, it could conceivably be to heavy for you child. We like it.

You have to realize that this is an inexpensive bass and comes with low end strings and tuners. That said, the bass arrived in quite good shape. I was not familiar with setting up a bass but was smart enough to realize it needed a little work. A little YouTube University and online articles showed me what to look for and how to correct any found issues. I adjusted the neck and set the intonation. The bass now plays and stays in tune. In time I will replace the original strings and tuners. ...

When I saw the specs on this bass, I had to buy it, I am glad I did. It has great tone, especially for such a small scale. Once I did a setup on it (file the nut, adjust the bridge, adjust the truss rod, and dressed the fret ends), It plays like butter. There was a little too much hum from the pickups, but once I shielded the cavity on the back, it's dead silent. The Mahogany body, Maple neck, and Rosewood fretboard make for a great bass. If you know how to do a proper setup, this is a great buy ...

Much better quality than I expected. I did have to do major adjustments for the intonation and had to file the nut slot for the E string, it was much too high. If you know how to make these adjustments, you will have a reasonably playable instrument.

I love this Glarry bass, because I can get around on it so much easier than I can a full-sized bass. After a quick intonation setup, it played like a breeze - no action setup required from the factory for this purchase. The pickups are good - the thing sounds nice. It's wired as a blender, so you have independent volume control for each pickup, plus an overall tone control. You can get some great sounds from this thing. I saw 10-year-old girl Ellen Alaverdyan playing some absolutely wonderful riffs with Steve Vai and discovered Glarry Music after watching that video. I bought this bass because I have smaller hands and don't really like the normal scale bass. It's almost tiny compared to other short scale basses but the sound is great and it came set up right from the box. I just tuned it up and adjusted the height of one string and it's ready to go! Intonation was already set and neck looked good, no sharp frets. Good job Glarry!

Unique little Jazz Bass -No glossy finish. Easy player. Neck pickup is 11K ohms, Bridge is around 7,k ohms I would suggest putting some nice stings on it.

7 year old loves it! This is not a toy. This is a real bass and guess what? It sounds amazing. Set it up to your liking and this thing is a ton of fun to play with. Has pickup volumes and so far, no issues. We truly love this bass.
