I briefly owned a cheap cello, bought from one of the major online sellers and it was so bad I ended up donating it to a thrift store, so I was reluctant to buy another cheap priced cello, but after watching a professional cellist playing and reviewing a Glarry cello online I decided to give the GC201 cello a try; it arrived today, in perfect condition and I'm very happy with it; it's very well made, it plays well and only a minor bridge adjustment will be needed, for me; it's very good overall and the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is due to the fingerboard being advertised as made of ebony and it's not; it's painted black, looks like ebony, but the real clear wood color shows underneath, where it was not painted; looking forward to purchase other Glarry instruments, in the future

As an adult hoping to teach myself the instrument I'd chosen the Glarry 4/4 cello based on the better reviews I've seen. All in all I'm quite content with it, no tuning issues, the strings took tune without snapping on me which has happened a few times with economically priced instruments in the past, I'm happy with the general look and feel of the instrument and I'm confident with adjustments I should be quite happy with it. All in all I'm quite content with it, no tuning issues, the strings took tune without snapping on me which has happened a few times with economically priced instruments in the past, I'm happy with the general look and feel of the instrument and I'm confident with adjustments I should be quite happy with it. I do feel like I'm going to need to make a few adjustments, the bridge primarily as it seems a little high and I'll need to shorten it if I want to have an action length of 68-69cm from nut to bridge as the 70.5cm length this instrument seems to be set up to take based on the position of the soundboard and height of the strings off of the end of the fingerboard, it results in a larger distance between notes which is a bit less comfortable than the shorter action length. I'm hoping not to have to adjust the soundpost as it was placed but I get the feeling it might be necessary to do so in addition having to modify the height of the bridge. Glarry does recommend taking the instrument to a luthier for final adjustment in the little manual it comes with so I'll credit them for that, but for people who like to do everything themselves I do want to mention that some adjustments like above might be necessary to get the best playability. All in all though, I'm optimistic that baring some big issue with making the little changes I plan to it should be a solid instrument and I'm quite happy with it so far.

The bow broke within two days, the bridge is a little high and the strings are not the best. A good starting cello but could be better if you put a little money into it to get a new bow, bridge and strings. Good for the price and is playable

It sounds perfectly fine, though obviously not a great one. But it's a great beginner cello for the price.

Excellent cello! If I have any complaints, and they are only slight, it is that the quality of the rosin that comes with it is quite poor, and I found that getting a good sound was a lot easier after I got some better quality rosin. The bow is also on the lower side of things, as far as quality of construction goes, but it is definitely functional and gets the job done.

You get what you pay for. Please keep in mind that instruments like these should be taken to get set up professionally. This will cost roughly $100 more. The distance of the strings from the heel should be roughly 5 mm from the low string and 3mm from the high string. This instrument came with dimensions twice as high making it unhealthy to play. The repair man will most likely need to sand down the bridge and the nut. Also, you will need peg paste to keep the instrument in tune. New strin ...

My personal budget friendly suggestions: D'Addario strings and rosin, fiddlerman carbon fiber bow ($77). With all that being said, this instrument will do fine for a beginner who does not wish to rent a $2000 instrument at $50 a month from their local music shop.

The Cello itself it gorgeous and I am very happy with however, the bow...The hair is too loose and keeps falling out plus the slide was missing. It also looks like the hair was superglued.

My daughter loved this cello it's very nicely put together we had to take it in to get toned and get some strings put on the only thing it's missing is rosin comes all dried out and u have to get a new one
