You get what you pay for. Please keep in mind that instruments like these should be taken to get set up professionally. This will cost roughly $100 more. The distance of the strings from the heel should be roughly 5 mm from the low string and 3mm from the high string. This instrument came with dimensions twice as high making it unhealthy to play. Let me start off by saying that I have absolutely no experience playing cello, so I don't have a lot of knowledge of the instrument to compare it to. But I would recommend purchasing this instrument. You know right off the bat that if you purchase this item you are getting what you pay for and it is really well worth it.

The Cello itself it gorgeous and I am very happy with however, the bow...The hair is too loose and keeps falling out plus the slide was missing. It also looks like the hair was superglued.

I did over tune the A string when I was first getting it in tune, and it broke, so it's a good thing they've included an extra set. The cello sounds good.

Packaging was very well done and shipping was speedy. The cello it self was beautiful, considering the price, I was pleasantly surprised. The strings, bow, and rosin were mediocre at best so I purchased some decent replacements and the sound is now very rich and comparable to a more expensive cello. I am very satisfied as I consider this a perfect purchase for someone wanting to learn to play the cello.

It made a weird squeaky sound when I played the G string while holding down on the fret. But I started making sure I kept the rosin residue wiped off the string, switched to Jade rosin, and started using the bow like I was taught in Cello Playing for Music Lovers: A Self-Teaching Method, and it disappeared. I love it!

I think this is an amazing cello for the price. Considering that most beginner cellos in a music store start out around $1,000, finding a cello that sounds good at all for $200 is great.

I was a bit worried about the shipping when I ordered, since musical instruments are so delicate. When the box arrived, it had numerous gouges in it, so I was even more nervous (the gouges weren't the seller's fault, of course). However, it was packaged well enough that the cello itself was completely fine.

This is a great first cello/student cello. Delivered quickly, without damage, as advertised. I got the Golden 4/4 for my daughter. She is currently playing on a rental 3/4 from school and they sound the same. I tuned it myself with the tuner. This was a great purchase for my daughter the price was very reasonable!

I am currently learning to play cello on my own. I was surprised at the quality of the cello for the price. The tone is awesome, when I play a song the tone sounds exactly like the instrument on the instructional C-D. This cello is awesome. Easily able to tune. Packaging was on point. I bought the black one. I have enjoyed it quite a bit. I ended up putting red label strings on it, because I broke one string. The red label strings do sound better than the original ones, though.

No apparent manufacturing defects, everything was included, and the bridge was simple enough for someone with no experience to set up (with the help of a single YouTube video). My only complaint is that it can't hold a string in tune for half an hour, but I'm hoping that will get better as I break in the instrument.
